Destination, Colorado!

Painting credit: Joyce Mihran Turley

When two people fall in love on the opposite coast from their friends and family, any venue is a destination wedding, so we decided to get married in one of our favorite destinations: the Colorado foothills near Kim’s hometown.

As with any destination-ish wedding, we know you have questions, and we have answers!  For the basic questions below that we can’t answer immediately, we have added an estimated date by which it will be posted on the website.  Please check back regularly, or sign up for e-mailed updates.  If you have another question that isn’t addressed here, please use the comment section to tell us what you would like to know – this post will be regularly updated to point you to all your most important links!

What’s the venue?

The venue is a gorgeous farm near Longmont, close to better-known Boulder, CO.  This is a working farm and orchard with animals and U-Pick-It apples, along with a dancefloor inside a barn and stunning views of the mountains.  Details will be included in the forthcoming invitations .

Which hotel should I book?

Hotel blocks are available in both Boulder (better downtown/shopping/nightlife), and Longmont (better quality–price trade-off).  Longmont hotels are a little closer to the venue and about 30 minutes closer to Fort Collins, where the Sunday afternoon events will be held.  Shuttle service will be provided to the venue from the Longmont Dry Cree/Hover St Hotel area.  If sufficient people book at other hotels, additional stops may be added.

You are free to pick any hotel you like in the area, but we have arranged several blocks and/or discount codes for each location.

Longmont:

There are many hotels available in Longmont at a good price.  Longmont is not a particularly scenic town, but if you are here just for the wedding, or if you plan to move hotels after the wedding to see other Colorado sights, then you have a variety of options.

Dry Creek/Hover St Hotel Area:

Marriott Springhill Suites Hotel

Additional Options

These hotels are along the general route to the Venue.  We do not have blocks prearranged, but they may provide cheaper, close-by options while rooms remain available.

What’s the schedule for the weekend?

Friday, September 1st:  All guests are invited to a Friday evening no-host “Welcome Drink” beginning around 8pm at Oscar Blues Grill and Bar, 1555 Hover St, Longmont, CO 80501.

Saturday, September 2nd: The wedding will take place in mid-afternoon (4pm arrival at the venue, 4:30pm ceremony start).  The venue is open earlier to the public, and you are welcome to come early and explore.  The wedding will be immediately followed by a cocktail hour, dinner reception, and dancing until ~10:00pm.

Sunday, September 3rd: Everyone will be invited to an afternoon event at the Turley property in Fort Collins, CO if you want to spend more time with the bride and groom.  If this is your first time in Colorado, this is also an excellent day to plan travel to one of the many fantastic attractions for the remainder of your long weekend.

Monday, September 4th: No specific wedding plans – we hope you enjoyed your Colorado adventure!

Do I need a rental car?

We recommend a rental car (it’s the best way to get around Colorado), but you can get by without one if you are only coming for wedding events.  Uber is active in the Longmont and Fort Collins areas, and we provide shuttle service for the wedding.  Your only challenge will be reaching the Turley house for the Sunday event, if you plan to attend.  To attend without a rental car, you’ll need to make the following transportation arrangements:

(1) Shuttle service is available from GreenRide or SuperShuttle from DIA to Longmont.
(2) Shuttle service will be provided from the Dry Creek/Hover St hotel area in Longmont to the venue, and other wedding events from Friday-Saturday will be within walking distance.
(3) You may wish to carpool with other guests if you are attending the Sunday event at the Turley’s – feel free to contact us if this is you.

What does ‘Children Welcome’ mean?

When we talked about the wedding we wanted, we knew we wanted our friends and family to bring THEIR families along.  Kids are welcome to attend the ceremony at parents’ discretion, but we also plan to provide on-site childcare and programming for children under the age of 8, including infants.  You will be able to check on your kids at any time, and may bring them into the reception events at your discretion.

You can help us out with planning by filling out the form below if you are considering bringing your kids along.  If you let us know in advance, we will include a special card just for your young one inviting them to their own party!

What will the weather be like?  What should I pack?

These are fantastic questions that merit a post all their own!  Check for more details here!

Where do I find the registry?

We’ve registered on Zola so you can visit one site to see all the items from different stores.

We’re also planning to do a registry at Crate & Barrel in the near future for those who prefer shopping in physical stores – stay tuned!

How do I get further updates?

Please sign up for our mailing list if you want to be notified when major logistical updates are posted (hotel blocks, event details, registry…).  In the meantime, feel free to check the website regularly for additional fun posts about the bride, groom, and wedding party, which we will add periodically.
