The Story Behind Our Rings

We are incredibly blessed to have wedding rings with a long history behind them, which make them just beyond special to us.  The original ring set marked the engagement and marriage of Stephen’s grandparents Richard and Virginia Kong (waaayyyyy ahead of their time in eloping to Vegas!!).

Several years ago, Virginia promised the rings to Stephen when or if he found someone he wanted to marry.  Kim was overjoyed and humbled at the opportunity to wear a diamond with so much history.  She incorporated her own family tradition of designing asymmetrical jewelry for special pieces into her design for her engagement and wedding band set:

But Kim wasn’t the only one to get a special ring out of the deal.  With the remaining diamonds and metal (and a little help from Kim’s mom Joyce!), Stephen was able to design a second ring that echoed the essential characteristics of his grandmother’s wedding band, while appearing hefty and masculine:

Both Stephen and Kim are honored to have a reminder of the strength of a lifelong marriage worn as the symbol of their own union.

The rings were constructed by Concierge Diamonds in Los Angeles, who also made the ring for Stephen’s brother David’s proposal.
