Having raised our 3 kids in Colorado, we can assure you that this is one of the best places for activities with kids. There is a broad spectrum of really cool things to do here.
There are the traditional kid activities such as Elitch Gardens Amusement Park in Denver with rides and a water park. There is Water World north of Denver. And there is our family favorite the North Pole outside of Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs. (BTW: If you plan a trip here, let me know. There are a lot of kid friendly activities in the area.) Fort Fun in Fort Collins offers go carts and miniature golf. There is also great hiking with kids in Rocky Mountain National Park – see the related blog entry.
A bit further away you will find the Royal Gorge Bridge and associated attractions to be a fun trip. The Outdoor physical activities with kids are great here too. There are wonderful bike trails for riding or walking in Boulder, Longmont, and Fort Collins. Likewise ,each town has extensive park systems with playgrounds and outdoor fun. There are also some great museums well worth a visit. Take a look at:

- The Denver Museum of Nature and Science

- The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo outside of Colorado Springs
It may still be hot, so pools are also a hit with kids. Take a look at:

- City Park Pool in Fort Collins
And, of course, there is a “ten best” list for each of the nearby towns.
